A SDoF Response Model for Elastic–Plastic Beams under Impact at Any Point on the Span

This study aims to investigate the elastic–plastic response of a clamped-clamped beam struck by rigid heavy mass with low velocity at any point on span. The impact system is simplified as single-degree-of-freedom (SDoF) mass-spring model formulate beam’s equations motion during loading and unloading. With consideration material elasticity large deflection, analytical solutions are derived predict global deformation behavior beam. Validation comparison conducted against numerical simulations performed using ABAQUS, satisfactory agreement achieved for predictions structural dynamic behavior. Meanwhile, parametric presented assess influence location characteristic parameters, which suggests that stiffness increases approaches support. findings drawn from studies can be useful in anti-impact design engineering structures.
